Welcome to the Babyan Culture house in Ibrahimpasa Turkey! I'll be an artist in residence here for the summer of 2012. My proposal involves using landscape painting to lower the glass wall between tourists like me and the people who live in this village.
Turkey is located between Europe and Asia, and Cappadocia is in Central Turkey. The village I'm staying in is near Nevsehir.
This area is known for its unique "fairy chimneys", which are pillars of volcanic ash that are peppered all over the landscape. During the crusades the people here hid in houses and villages dug into the landscape, and the now abandoned caves and tunnels are everywhere.
