Smith sees commissions as collaborations between herself and her clients.  Whether given creative freedom, or leading the process herself Smith’s commissions are highly personal and deeply explorative. The process ranges from clients giving a few guidelines, to introductory calls and image sharing to excavate a desired experience. Whatever form it takes, she is always translating meaning and purpose in the feel and look of the final drawing.
