Whether working together with clients on the outcome or being given complete creative freedom, Smith’s commissions are highly personal and deeply explorative. The process ranges from clients giving a few guidelines, to introductory calls and image sharing to excavate a desired experience from the final drawing. Whatever form it takes, she is always translating meaning and purpose in the feel and look of the drawings she creates.
